I'd still like for us to sign Jagr. Not sure if BT feels the same way though.. I'd love to see this as the opening night lineup:

Johnny Money Jagr
Ferland Backlund Frolik
Tkachuk Bennett Versteeg
Lazar Janko Hath/Foo
Hamilton

-Jagr would fit in well with Johnny and Money.
-We still technically have a 3M line (and I don't think it'd miss a beat)
-Tkachuk and Benny
-4th line would be interesting to watch, could end up being pretty good

It seems like a perfect fit, but I wouldn't hold your breath. It probably would have happened by now if it was going to get done.

That's what I'm thinking too . I think BT saying that Ferland would be starting on the top line was his way of saying that we aren't going to be getting anymore top 6 help

Oh well, we still have a solid team. I just think Jagr on a 1 year ~3 mill deal is the definition of low-risk...

Not to golden shower on your post & happy thoughts but you have almost $8.0 of cap spent on two forwards that simply vanished. You honestly think Houdini is hovering down at the Dome?

Edit: To be honest, if Tre signed Jagr, then one of Brouwer or Stajan have to be traded.
That's the problem with depth, nice to have but the optics of 8.0 mill sitting in the press box at the start of the season would be hard for Tre to explain to an owner like Edwards. This may sound insane but I would sacrifice Kylington to Vegas if they took Brouwer & Stajan for a 2nd & 3rd round pick next year. Then I would sign Jagr & go with

I believe the smart play is seeing what Janko, Foo, and Poirier can do. If Janko can slot in with the Mikes and Tkachuk with Benny that gives us 3 decent lines.

I think a 3rd line of Tkachuk, Bennett and Lazar or Poirier would look pretty decent.

Not saying they should break up the 3m line, but if they can find someone who can also be effective there it would be pretty sweet.

Lots of guys pushing for spots and as much as I would like Yagr I also agree its a long shot.

Oh, completely forgot about them. Here's where they'll slot in:

Mangiapane Stajan Poirer
Shinkaruk Angelidis Brouwer
Pollock Lomberg Smith
Carroll Frattin Bollig

*I know Stajan and Brouwer will start out on the 4th line. That was more of a wish list lineup

Your lines are wrong, I believe Bollig will be playing on the top9 in San Jose this year.

I think Brouwer will be given a shot on the 3rd. Kinda have to see if the guy can rebound. I think he will get his 10 games and if he is not producing the fans will be screaming for blood but when you have a guy getting paid that much you have to give him opportunities.

I think they see if Lazar or Janko can take those 4th line center minutes from Stajan and if so he is trade bait. Gotta recoup a couple picks.

Best case scenario is that Brouwer rebounds but the young guys look ready and he can be shipped off at TDL to a bubble team with 1 mil retained.

God damn I hope they have a decent start to the year so that we are not having to go balls out for the last 2 months of the year.

I kinda want to see all these old guys without contracts play in the Olympics this year. Some people would say it's not "fair" to whoever's spot they end up taking but I call B.S. Imagine if you were some guy playing overseas and you suddenly found your self on a line with Jarome Iginla and Shane Doan playing for a gold medal

A wait and see approach could actually pay off big time this year. We can see what we have in some of our young guys and if we do need reinforcements we could look at signing one of those guys once they're done playing in the Olympics

Ya, I think Brouwer will be given an opportunity to rebound. I just don't have any confidence that he is going to beat out enough guys to stick with that 3rd line (GG likes Versteeg--I think that 3RW spot is his to lose). Hopefully I'm wrong.

Haynes, Loubo, and Odland are more reserved about pourier's potential at this point. They're also the only media people that attended Dev Camp and payed attention it seems.

Steinberg and Kerr skipped the practice and attended the stampede parade instead of taking in the scrimmage. You hear them talking about Pourier and they are talking out of their ass.

Pourier had three good shifts in a game where he's had more years as a pro and should control possession against a group of 18-22 year olds.

Hah not trying to oppose your statement. More of a rant about Pourier getting all this hype.

If we still had Frattin; he would be in the first line. We assigned that role to Hrivik/Foo this year. Frattin did so many small things right. We will have growing pains for a while in Stockton.

That teams been a mess for the last few years. Seems like they can go from red hot to a complete poop show in the blink of an eye
